Gaza: new humanitarian flight to Italy

117 Palestinians have arrived in Italy, including 26 patients in need of urgent medical care

Rome 10 Feb 2026

In the late afternoon of yesterday, three Italian Air Force aircraft took off from the Israeli airport of Eilat, engaged in a new joint humanitarian operation in support of the civilian population of the Gaza Strip. On board were 26 patients in need of urgent medical care, accompanied by their family members, for a total of 117 people.

Upon arrival in Italy, the patients were immediately taken in charge by facilities of the National Health Service to receive the necessary specialized treatment.

The operation was made possible thanks to the coordination of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the synergy among the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Health, and the Civil Protection Department, with contributions from the Italian Red Cross and the healthcare facilities involved. A team effort that confirms Italy’s ability to act in a unified and effective manner in humanitarian emergencies.

“This operation is the result of a collective commitment and constant cooperation among all components of the State. Italy demonstrates its ability to translate the values of solidarity and responsibility into concrete actions in support of the civilian population. The Armed Forces, together with personnel from other Ministries and the entities involved, operate with professionalism and a spirit of service to ensure real help for those who are suffering. This is how our country contributes, with discretion and effectiveness, to humanitarian initiatives,” said Minister of Defence Guido Crosetto.

With this operation, the total number of Palestinian civilians transferred to and assisted in our country exceeds 900.

The transfer of patients is part of Italy’s broader humanitarian commitment in support of the civilian population of Gaza, which includes the delivery of aid by sea and air, healthcare support, and participation in the European mission EUBAM Rafah, which has recently resumed operations at the Rafah crossing.
