Assets of the Navy and Air Force are participating in the international 'Formidable Shield' exercise taking place in the area of the Hebrides Islands (UK) until 26 May.
Exercise Formidable Shield is planned and conducted every two years by the US. A total of 13 Allied and NATO partner nations, more than 20 ships and 35 aircraft, and around 4,000 military personnel from Allied countries are taking part. The exercise aims to test the interoperability of participants and consolidate their capabilities in an integrated air and missile defence environment using NATO command and control structures.
