“It is with deep emotion that, also on behalf of the Defence family, my thoughts go to the victims of terrorism. Our sympathy to their families and all those who are bearing the brunt of terrorism. Every attack to our values, i.e. freedom and democracy, is an act of violence, and indiscriminate violence is barbaric. The fight against terrorism is an every-day commitment, a responsibility that we all assume with determination, to provide security for our citizens and protect peace, a precious asset that we must defend day by day”.
Thus Defence Minister Guido Crosetto on the occasion of the European Day in Memory of the Victims of Terrorism.
The European Day in Memory of the Victims of Terrorism was established after the bloody Madrid attacks of 11 March 2004. Every year, since 2005, the European Union commemorates the innocent victims of terrorism.
