European Air and Missile Defence Conference

Today, in Rome, the European Air and Missile Defence Conference has taken place at Palazzo Aeronautica, in the presence of Defence Minister Guido Crosetto and his French counterpart Sébastien Lecornu.

The conference, organized by the Ministry of Defence, was an opportunity for European countries engaged in the field of air and missile defence to discuss and assess relevant themes, in the first place to reinforce cooperation -also in the defence industry sector- in order to develop cutting edge systems able to counter emerging threats.

“Strengthening Europe’s Air and Missile Defence, also in light of current and future challenges, is an absolute priority for our collective security. We must achieve critical mass, be faster and more effective and increase cooperation between European countries, Defence Ministries and industries, remove bureaucratic barriers and foster technology sharing. This is the only way we can respond to threats and avoid losing our competitive edge to actors who aim to create international instability and question the democratic system”, Minister Crosetto added.

The initiative is part of a context where common security is becoming more and more crucial to guarantee European stability and the protection of European citizens.
