Defense Culture: “Ghost Bombs”
It is estimated that, during World War II, over one million aerial bombs were dropped on Italy and that, of these, about one in ten remained unexploded.
Even after more than 80 years, these devices, like many other remnants of war, can still be lethal, hidden in the ground or on the seabed.
What should you do if you find a suspicious object?
- Never touch it.
- Move away immediately.
- Call 112.
Every year, more than 7,000 explosive devices are neutralized by specialists from the Armed Forces.
