Undersecretary of State for Defence, Sen. Isabella Rauti, met with the Army Alpine Troops taking part in the Ice Patrol – the second phase of International Exercise White Fox 2024, dedicated to Mountain Warfare in a winter environment- at Tempesti Training Base in Corvara.
Ice Patrol includes thirteen patrols made up of eight soldiers; one formation from 2nd Alpine Regiment-Communications and one Romanian Army formation. The Alpine Troops will conduct the exercise in the Val Badia Dolomites over three days and four nights, along a 20 km track with an elevation gain of approximately 1,000 metres.
“We can summarize Mountain Warfare – the innovative approach to mountain combat activities which is the basis of Exercise White Fox- using three words: Verticality, Arcticity and Internationality, i.e. the altitude domain, the ability to operate in extreme conditions and interoperability”, Undersecretary Rauti declared.
“Altitude training is a rule that the Alpine Troops have been complying with with the same spirit and determination for the last 150 years. An evocative feeling leaning on ultra-modern equipment and marked by last-generation techniques, according to the innovation process pursued by the Defence”, Rauti continued.
Exercise White Fox engages a total of over 1,000 Alpine troops, with additional Air Force and Army Aviation crews and aircraft, soldiers from the Tactical Information Brigade and units from the French and United States Armies, as well as personnel from the Italian Red Cross.
