Defence: 17 Palestinian patients and 63 accompanying persons evacuated to Italy
Crosetto: “Italy at the forefront in helping the most vulnerable”
The first of the three Italian Air Force aircraft involved in the humanitarian evacuation to Italy of Palestinian civilians including patients in need of medical treatment in Italy and their accompanying relatives took off from the Israeli airport of Eilat.
The Defence aircraft will land in Italy this evening, and the patients will be taken in charge by national healthcare facilities to receive the necessary treatment.
Today’s mission is the seventeenth carried out by Italy since the beginning of the emergency, for a total of more than 830 civilians evacuated and assisted in our country.
“This is not just a number: it means continuity, commitment, responsibility. For Italy, solidarity is never an occasional gesture but a constant duty. Our country is today at the forefront of humanitarian support for the population of the Gaza Strip. Italy acts with discretion but with determination, with coherence and responsibility, delivering real aid to those who are suffering. Every mission is a bridge of hope, a tangible sign of the possibility of a better future. The true measure of a nation is its ability to protect and support the most vulnerable.”
Thus stated the Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto.
Humanitarian missions such as today’s are made possible thanks to the coordination of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the joint efforts of the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Health, and the Civil Protection Department, in collaboration with the Italian Red Cross and the involved healthcare authorities.
