
Council of Ministers Appoints Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone as Chairman of NATO Military Committee

The Council of Ministers today appointed Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, as proposed by Defence Minister Guido Crosetto, to the post of Chairman of NATO Military Committee. The decision follows the election by the Committee of the Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of Atlantic Alliance Member Countries, which took place on 16 September 2023. To this end, Admiral Cavo Dragone was called back to service until July 2027. He will officially assume his new post on 16 January, 2025. “Admiral Cavo dragone will make available to the Atlantic Alliance his leadership and his experience, the product of his long, prestigious military career, at a time of great international complexity. As Chairman of NATO Military Committee, his task will be to translate political decision into strategic military activities, fundamental for NATO’s security and stability. Now more than ever, his leadership will be crucial to reinforcing our collective ability to tackle global challenges and promote peace. This appointment further strengthens Italy’s protagonist role in the international context, confirming the country’s commitment to guaranteeing international security and stability.”
