With the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games, an extraordinary chapter of sports, courage, and humanity comes to an end.
We were not mere spectators: we learned what it means to be winners, in life even before in sports.
We witnessed the passion and determination of athletes who won their most important race before even stepping onto the field.
Among them, our athletes from the Paralympic Sports Group of the Ministry of Defense (GSPD), who contributed to the Italian medal tally with 2 golds and 1 silver, also bringing the values of the Ministry of Defense into the competition: discipline, spirit of service, and love for the Tricolor, represented by our Perathoner, who will be the flag-bearer tonight.
“A big round of applause for the Azzurri, our GSPD athletes, and a special thanks to the Ministry of Defense personnel, who provided support and security during the Olympic and Paralympic Games, alongside the volunteers of the National Alpine Association.
It is also thanks to them that Italy was able to successfully organize and support such a large-scale event.
The stories, smiles, and gazes of these athletes remind us that determination is the key to overcoming every challenge, and that every limit can be surpassed. In these challenging times, it is a lesson for all: the future depends on us.”
This is how the Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, expressed himself.
