The Carabinieri Corps pursues its fight against the traffic of archaeological pieces.
The Morgantina Treasure, a relevant example of Sicilian Hellenistic jewellery from the 3rd Cent. BC will be again a splendid testimony of the time when it shone in the salon of its old owners, in the Sicilian villa that gave it its name, whose heritage pieces have been retrieved in Aidone, Enna.
The Carabinieri for the Protection of Cultural Heritage retrieved the treasure’s pieces after an arrest made in Rome following complex investigation activities.
After other stolen pieces are taken back from the United States, five more Hellenistic silver objects will be exhibited after restoration work done at the Ministry of Culture Restoration Centre.
