Exploring them also means studying the climate and gaining a better understanding of complex environments such as the Arctic.
Defense contributes to this as well, with the Italian Navy's research vessel Alliance, which has just concluded its 2026 Research Campaign in the North Atlantic and the Arctic Ocean.
On board, the crew, researchers from the Navy Hydrographic Institute, and scientists from the NATO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation collaborated to gather data and deepen knowledge of the marine environment.
A effort that combines expertise, technology, and international cooperation in the service of scientific research.
