President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella and Defence Minister Guido Crosetto attended the wreath-laying ceremony at the Altar of the Fatherland held to honour all the Fallen on the occasion of the 79th Anniversary of Italy’s Liberation.
The ceremony was also attended by Speaker of the Senate Ignazio La Russa, Speaker of the House Lorenzo Fontana, President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni, Chairman of the Constitutional Court Augusto Barbera and Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, as well as top military leaders.
Subsequently, the Head of State, accompanied by the Dfence Minister, laid a wreath at the “Pietà del Giugno 1944” Memorial in Civitella Val di Chiana – a town in Arezzo province- which was awarded the Gold Medal for Civic Valour.
“Thank you, because your day-by-day commitment honours and keeps alive the spirit and values of Resistenza and freedom”, Minister Crosetto said, in the presence of President Mattarella, during the meeting with the Veterans and Military Corps Associations .held at the Quirinale Palace.
