“This is much more than a Boat Show, it is a stage for the ambitions of Italy as a whole, not only for the yachting market", Defence Minister
Guido Crosetto said in his video-message for the inauguration ceremony of the 63rd Genoa International Boat Show. The ceremony took place this morning.
Minister Crosetto highlighted the importance of the “Piano Mare" (Sea Plan), which aims to turn Italy into a European – but not only- energy hub.
“We want to enhance tourism and the relevant segment of the yachting market and strengthen our well-structured, advanced, unique skills, deep-rooted into our country's industrial and social fabric", he added, underscoring that the sea, and our shipbuilding industry, are part of our history:
“The history of a nation with 8,300 km of coastline. –he said- A nation that boasts a historical association with the sea, a legacy that emerged with the Marine Republics- and Genoa, which hosts us today, was one of them- and is mirrored in our shipbuilding industry, still a leading industry the world over".
Minister Crosetto, in his video-message, reiterated the need to remain vigilant and safeguard the seas, as the Italian Navy does from the Mediterranean Sea to the Indo- Pacific.
“The sea –he added- is also a showcase for our nation, as shown by our Vespucci training ship, whose tour is a success at the diplomatic, political, military and social level, representing the “Made in Italy" label across the seas".
