The Italian Bilateral Military Mission in Lebanon (MIBIL) completed the Winter Special Mountain Warfare course for the Lebanese Special Forces belonging to the Air Assault Regiment and Ranger Regiment.
The closing ceremony of the course took place at the headquarters of the Air Assault Regiment of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) in Ghosta.
A Mobile Training Team consisting of instructors from the Army's 4th Mountain Troops Rangers Regiment (airborne) was in charge of training.
The Italian instructors set up complex risk scenarios on accident management with the trainees, including the extraction of personnel buried by avalanches and life-saving medical treatments.
During 2023, MIBIL will continue to develop further training activities for the Lebanese Special Forces to increase the span of their capabilities in many sectors and operational environments. The Command for Joint Operations (COVI) coordinates and directs all the activities in the theatre of operations. COVI is responsible for planning, coordinating and directing military operations, national and multinational joint exercises, the and related activities.
