This morning the Libyan Minister of Defence Abdallah Abdulrahman Al-Theni, accompanied by the Italian Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Luigi Binelli Mantelli, and Army Chief of Staff General Claudio Graziano, visited the over 300 Libyan military currently attending the first phase of their training in Cassino.
Minister Al-Theni, in Italy to take part in the International Conference on Libya organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Villa Farnesina, met the young Libyan military who are being trained by 80th Regiment- Volunteers’ Trainig instructors at Infantry Platoon level, taking stock of the implemented training activities.
The initiative is based on Italy-Libya bilateral agreements, signed within the framework of the G8 Compact, which provide for training 2,000 Libyan military in Italy and Local Police Forces training by the Carabinieri Corps, Navy and Air Force instructors in Libya.
Carabinieri Corps’ instructors are holding courses on Police Operations Procedures in favour of the Border Police and Special Counter-Crime Group.
